Mentorship is the new Teacher Training

Prerequisites: 3 years minimum of continuous and regular -2 to 3 X per week practice of Iyengar yoga with an Iyengar certified teacher.

The Mentorship is an immersion to learn

seriously the asanas, the use of the props, deepen the practice, learn to help and place students, to demonstrate asanas, teach and prepare final assessment.

It involves to attend 2 to 3 classes per week, workshops, intensives, philosophy classes, retreats and national Iyengar yoga conventions.

The Mentorship is demanding and requires perseverance: it covers anatomy, physiology, Indian civilisation & philosophy, education skills - the art of teaching -, and deepened practice. An assessment in front of a jury -Junior & Senior teachers-, validated by the BIYAB Examination and Assessment Committee, concludes the third year.

A new Mentoring cycle directed by Stéphane Bourhis and Lucia Thibault, under the supervision of Willy Bok, will begin in September 2023: two candidates will be accepted.

The diploma is certified by the RIMYI (Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune-India) and agreed by the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Belgium -BIYAB-. The teachers wishing to use the name Iyengar, now registered as a mark or logo, rent annually its use from the BIYAB.
